Aussie Garage

I have been listening non-stop to the Coloured Balls - Ball Power over the last few days. It has lead to me dig around & look for some older Aussie Garage.

The Loved Ones was where my first port of call. The track the 'Loved One' is pretty well known.

However I haven't heard this track before. The video quality is a little dodgey, but it is a super cool track:

I also found this track by the D Coys. The clip is pretty funny. I am not sure why they are being pelted with soft-toys.

Bukka White

I was given a big box of about 50 Blues CD's today. Now I have spent a bunch of my life getting into all kinds of music. From Punk Rock, Hardcore, Dub, Metal, Jazz, Psych, Garage & everything in between. However I have never really spent a lot of time listening to the Blues. When I say Blues, I am talking about blues from the 40's - 60's. Most of my understanding of the Blues really comes from listening to all of the 60's british bands delivering their take on it. I do have a Robert Johnson disc but that is where it ended - until now.

I think I may have found something new to waste my time on. There are some cracking discs in here. My two faves from tonight's digging through the box are Blind Willie McTell & Bukka White. I then looked on YouTube & found this amazing clip of Bukka White. He is rockin'.

  • Misfits: Static Age
  • Black Flag: First Fours Years
  • Husker Du: Metal Circus
  • Reagan Youth: Volume 1 & 2

Space Men 3

I have mainly been getting into assorted "back to the grave" style garage, 13th Floor Elevators & Spacemen 3 recently. I got a sweet reissue of the Spacemen 3 LP, Perfect Prescription, on the weekend. 180 gram vinyl. Such an awsome minimalist record. The percussion when there is really subdued, sort of Mo Tucker style.

This track is on their 3rd LP, Playing With Fire. FUCKING AWESOME:

My favourite Stones song

This song rocks. I got turned onto it by a kick ass version the MC5 did.
